Relax Into Your 'Makeover'

Keep It Local, by Barbara Lawrence – April 4, 2012

Whether man or woman, just reading the description of the spa services offered by several local businesses will have you saying “ahhh.” There is more to choose from today than a haircut! You could spend days taking advantage of all the great services to help you look and feel your best right here in our community. This is just a taste so be sure to check out websites and call other local salons in our area. As more recommendations come in, we will be able to build a virtual connection of choices for our community.

‘Best Of Both Worlds’

If you haven’t pampered yourself lately, an hour of “the best of both worlds” package at  Salon and Spa on Main (123 S. Main St. in Mount Holly) should relieve your stress and get you ready for your next challenge! I am especially ready to try the spa’s “Aromatic Detoxifying Treatment,” although the name doesn’t do it justice. Here is a description from the spa's website. Imagine what is involved:

“First you will receive our one-hour long ‘Hot Rocking Reflexology’ treatment. Our therapist will treat you to a detoxifying footbath using an aromatherapy blend of essential oils. Then your feet will be massaged with hot stones to encourage an all-over mind & body rejuvenation. Following your foot treatment you will receive our 30-minute detoxifying facial.”

60 years of special service

William Henry Salon, Belmont
The William Henry Signature Salon and Spa offers services at locations both in Mount Holly and Belmont. According to the salon’s website:

“William Henry Signature Salon carries a reputation of integrity and excellence for over 60 years in Gaston County. What once started as a small barber shop in East Belmont, offering men's hair cuts, shaves, and shoe shines, has been relocated into the historic downtown Main Street districts of Belmont (15 S. Main St.) and Mt. Holly (104 N. Main St.”

Many other choices for us

Hair services, facial treatments, body treatments, nail treatments, hair removal services, and massage services offer so much professional service to choose from in our local community.

I have had the great pleasure of knowing some of the best stylists in the country. Our professionals in salons throughout our area are great contributors to our community. They donate their energy, creativity and innovative work to so many community endeavors beyond the confines of their daily services. So, get connected, have a makeover, share ideas, and great things can happen to help develop other creative businesses in our communities.

Tell me your favorites

There are many great hairstylists, barbers, and spa service professionals available to us.  I know that we tend not to try new services, such as these, without personal recommendations. So, check out a few websites, make your appointment and start spreading the word. These are just a few ideas to get you thinking. Use this blog to share your stories and recommendations with me. And, by the way, a makeover might just help with the next great opportunity coming your way.
